The Zemen Monastery (Bulgarian: Земенски манастир) is a Bulgarian Orthodox monastery located 1 kilometre away from Zemen in western Bulgaria. The monastery was established in the 11th century. It is rather small with a church, belfry and two other buildings. It is currently uninhabited. The church "St. John the Theologian" is a monument of culture with national significance.

Paro Valley, Bhutan
Paro Taktsang is the popular name of Taktsang Palphug Monastery (also known as The Tiger Nest), a prominent Himalayan Buddhist sacred site and temple complex, located in the cliffside of the upper Paro valley, Bhutan. A temple complex was first built in 1692, around the Taktsang Senge Samdup cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century.

The Bachkovo Monastery (Bulgarian: Бачковски манастир, Bachkovski manastir), archaically the Petritsoni Monastery or Monastery of the Mother of God Petritzonitissa in Bulgaria is an important monument of Christian architecture and one of the largest and oldest Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Europe. It is located on the right bank of the Chepelare River, 189 km from Sofia and 10 km south of Asenovgrad, and is directly subordinate to the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The Khor Virap (meaning deep pit or deep well) is an Armenian Apostolic Church monastery located in the Ararat plain in Armenia, near the border with Turkey, about 8 km south of Artashat, Ararat Province. The monastery was host to a theological seminary and was the residence of Armenian Catholicos.

Saint Catherine Monastery, commonly known as Santa Katarina lies on the Sinai Peninsula, at the mouth of a gorge at the foot of Mount Sinai in the city of Saint Catherine in South Sinai Governorate in Egypt. The monastery is Orthodox and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 548 and 565 this monastery is one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world together with the Monastery of Saint Anthony, situated across the Red Sea in the desert south of Cairo, which also lays claim to that title.

St. Michael Golden-Domed Monastery (Ukrainian: Михайлівський золотоверхий монастир) is a functioning monastery in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The monastery is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River on the edge of a bluff northeast of the Saint Sophia Cathedral. The site is located in the historic administrative Uppertown and overlooks the historical commercial and merchant quarter of the city, the Podil neighbourhood.

Trabzon Province, Turkey
The Sümela Monastery (Turkish: Sümela Manastırı, Greek: Μονή Παναγίας Σουμελά), is a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary at Melá mountain, in the region of Maçka in the Trabzon Province of modern Turkey. Nestled in a steep cliff at an altitude of about 1,200 meters facing the Altındere valley, it is a site of great historical and cultural significance, as well as a major tourist attraction of Altındere National Park.

Key Gompa (also spelled Ki, Kye or Kee) is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4166 m above sea level, close to the Spiti River, in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti district, India. It is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas.

Ganden Monastery (also Gaden or Gandain) or Ganden Namgyeling is one of the great three Gelukpa university monasteries of Tibet, located at the top of Wangbur Mountain, Tagtse County, 36 km ENE from the Potala Palace in Lhasa, at an altitude of 4300 m. The other two great monasteries are Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery. Its full name is Ganden Namgyal Ling.
