St. Petka Bulgarian Church is located on the right bank of the river Struma in area Rupite, Petrich municipality, Blagoevgrad. The area is a crater of an extinct volcano. Near the temple there are hot springs of mineral water at 78 degrees.
The church was built in 1994 designed by architect Bogdan Tomalevski and Lozan Lozanov and painted by artist Svetlin Roussev. Chief founder of the temple is the Bulgarian clairvoyant Vanga prophet. The construction was financed mainly by her means. Vanga died on August 11, 1996 in Sofia and was buried in her church. Church of St. Petka Bulgarian e one of the 100 national tourist sites in Bulgaria.
